What you would learn in Java Puzzles to Eliminate Code Fear course?
The inspiration for this course was derived from an article entitled "Why Can't Programmers Program?" Written by Jeff Atwood. The book discusses how poorly the candidates do in their coding interviews.
It is surprising that a significant proportion of applicants, including those with master's degrees or Ph. D.s with a computer science degree fail in interviews when they are asked to perform basic programming tasks, like iterating in a loop and printing numbers between 1 and 10. Also, they are unable to solve the commonly-repeated buzz issue. I've witnessed in my own experience when interviewing candidates for positions in software development. They might possess a stellar academic background and experiences in various technology and software projects; however, when faced with a fascinating programming challenge, the code they write falls apart—there is no need for a college education to be an expert programmer. There's a significant gap between those who program and those who aren't able to. My experience is that the reason is to focus on mastering the essential elements of programming. This code is method-level and proficient in topics such as string manipulation, lists loops, logic, and even Recursion. These are the fundamental granular elements that are common to every programming language. Think of them as the tools that a programmer uses to tackle problems. It is essential to be aware of your tools to master this craft!
It isn't possible to learn programming by studying books. In reality, you require a lot of repetition. If you're looking to become an expert programmer, you must code a lot and focus on solving challenging issues that push your limits. This course provides a systematic and organized way for you to master this skill by using a small portion of Java without getting lost in various other aspects of development. Each concept is accompanied by a coding problem, and encourage students to solve the problem themselves before I provide the solution in depth. This method has proven successful every time for my students.
