What you would learn in 5G Open RAN (O-RAN) and Private Networks: From Zero to Hero course?
In this course, you'll mostly be taught two things:
1.) Study the OpenRAN Concepts, Architectures, Interfaces, and the specifics associated with them.
2.) Learn to create 5G, and 4G networks with Open-source Open RAN software and general-purpose COTS hardware.
Suppose you are looking to prepare yourself to construct practical and open telecom devices, applications, and systems that are end-to-end 4G/5G that are competitive and alternative to those made by traditional Telecom companies, like NOKIA HUAWEI, SAMSUNG, ERICSSON, ZTE, and so on. Or, if you're looking to understand how to build private networks for 4G/5G, then this course is perfect for you. This course will teach you in-depth the most technical aspects of building complete 5G and 4G networks, such as eNodeB/gNodeB UE and EPC/5GC.
Private networks, regardless of the person you talk to (see here and here), have evolved from laboratory gadgets to a multibillion-dollar business. Open source technology has also been removed from the lab, including solutions such as RedHat, OpenStack, O-RAN Alliance, and Telecom Infra Project. Telecom Infra Project is an expanding presence in operator networks around the world. As the popularity of open-source expands and network operators recognize the advantages of using open-source software, companies are reacting by implementing open-source solutions that are moving upwards in the stack. Since the introduction of the Magma project, open-source is expanding into more intricate network functions such as the heart of the 4G and 5G mobile networks.
In a bid to put fuel on the private and open network flame, The FCC has released a CBRS spectrum that can be commercially deployed, which is expected to take off during the auction just completed and when Spectrum Access Systems (SASs) are launched. With its three-tier access, CBRS lets anyone have access to a substantial part of the airwaves that has the capacity of 25x (or greater) the bandwidth of most Wi-Fi networks. They can also provide high-quality wireless service.
Based on these modifications, In this edition of my build your networking step-by-step, I'll shift our goal from a lab network to a commercial LTE system deployment. Let's get started.
After watching the entire lecture video in the class, you'll be awarded an official certificate of completion.
