What you would learn in Most Complete Teaching of BGP course?
Border Gateway Protocol ( BGP) is a standard external gateway protocol designed to exchange reachability and routing information between autonomous systems (AS) over the Internet. BGP can be described as a path-vector routing method that determines routing decisions according to the network's path, rules, or policies set by a network administrator.
BGP used to route data in an autonomous network is referred to as Interior Border Gateway Protocol, Internal BGP ( iBGP). The Internet use of the protocol is known as Exterior Border Gateway Protocol, External BGP ( eBGP).
BGP peers, also known as neighbors, are created through manual configuration between routers to establish the TCP connection on the port of 179. A BGP speaker transmits keep-alive messages of 19 bytes each 30 seconds (protocol default setting, tunable) to maintain the connection. As a routing protocol, BGP is unique in using TCP for its transport protocol.
If BGP operates between two peers within one autonomous system (AS), It is known as the Internal BGP ( iBGP or Interior Border Gateway Protocol). If it is used between two autonomous systems, it's known as External BGP ( eBGP or Exterior Border Gateway Protocol). Routers located at the boundaries of an AS communicating with another AS are known as borders and edge routers or eBGP peers and are generally connected directly; however, iBGP peers are connected via different intermediate routers. Other deployment topologies are feasible, for instance, using eBGP peering within the VPN tunnel, which allows two sites from different locations to exchange routing data safely and securely.
