What you would learn in Principles of Secure Coding course?
We all want to be secure in our jobs and how we conduct ourselves but are we secured against what? What is security, and how do we go about achieving it? In this class, we'll look at this issue in detail.
We'll start with a short introduction to security concepts like authorization and authentication and the associated concepts of encryption and encryption. We'll also discuss the role of control over version numbers in developing secure software and the necessity to keep secrets from being a part of the version control process. We'll look at two stories of security horror that are real, and the other one is a fictional tale from YouTube, the legend of Tom Scott.
We'll then move to secure programming practices with C# as our example platform, with an eye on broad applications. We'll look at the methods of keeping information secure and how sensitive information can get into the wrong hands.
The course will conclude by reviewing the OWASP top security concerns for 2021. Through a deeper dive into these commonly-asked problems, we'll gain an understanding of the mindset that causes security concerns every year.
