This course covers the information needed for the DP300 certification exam. It is current according to the DP-300 exam revision of September 24th, 2021.
This course will teach the necessary skills of the Microsoft certificate DP300 " Administering Relational Databases on Microsoft Azure." It focuses on managing Microsoft Azure SQL Databases, Azure SQL Managed Instances, and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines. We focus the majority of the class on Azure SQL Databases. We then explore the additional capabilities that come with Managed Instances and SQL Server on Azure Virtual Machines.
At the beginning of this class, we'll focus specifically on Azure SQL Database. The first step is to sign up for the free trial version of Azure, set up SQL Server Management Studio, and briefly examine the six significant clauses of the query. We'll then discuss ways to improve query performance and measure the impact of performance enhancements.
We will then examine the different Data Platform Resources and how they differ. Then, we'll take a deep dive into setting up Azure SQL Database resources for efficiency and scale, such as servers that are provisioned or serverless vCore, DTU as well as database partitioning strategies. Then, we will look at strategies for moving to Azure.
Then, we will look at how to create a secure environment for the Azure SQL Database. We will examine how to configure authorization and authentication using tools for database and platform, implement security measures for data in transit and during transit, and establish compliance controls on sensitive information.
Then, we'll analyze how to Monitor and optimize the use of operational resources. This involves monitoring activities and performance, performing maintenance-related tasks related to performance, and identifying issues related to performance.
Finally, to Azure SQL Database, we will explore ways to automate tasks and the backup and restore of databases through the use of database tools. Suggest a HADR strategy to use a data platform and more information about performing Administration using T-SQL.
In the next part of this course, we'll turn on Virtual Machines and Managed Instances and other features not included within Azure SQL Database. We'll begin by configuring them and accessing them via SSMS or through the Remote Desktop Connection. We will then look at ways to upgrade SQL Server, configure the database authentication and filegroups.
We'll evaluate how to implement an alert or notification plan, identify performance-related issues with tools that we can't utilize for Azure SQL Database, and develop scheduled tasks. In the end, we'll perform backup and restore of a database on Virtual Machines with the help of tools for databases and recommend testing and configuring High Resiliency or Disaster Recovery methods.
A little prior knowledge is needed, but it's not too much. You'll need to be able to utilize the Select statement. It could be helpful but not require having a brief experience with Microsoft Azure.
A basic understanding of SQL Server is needed. In particular, you should be aware of:

How do you create stored procedures and views,
How to make backups and restore databases.
